Serious Seeds

Selector behind Serious Seeds, Simon, is responsible for the material sold by the seed bank.

He began collecting seeds in Africa to be included in his private genetic library. Back in the Netherlands, he immediately began to cultivate those seeds for personal pleasure.

Crossing what he thought was the best plants seemed a natural follow-up.

Contacts with other growers allowed him to access different plants from which he selected the best. The genetic background of this material was not always clear at this time.

Simon taught biology in a high school when Alan Dronkers asked him to come to work at the Sensi Seeds.

This meant a drastic career change for Simon, but he never regretted this step. After working for a while Sensi Seeds, Simon collaborated with two American "cannabis-refugees" and founded his seed bank.

In that year (1994) the AK-47 ' and the Chronic ' won both awards at the High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam.

After this exceptional success with its varieties, collaboration with Americans was interrupted and Simon founded his seed bank "Serious Seeds" in 1995.

It has always been a serious policy to have the products grown by the different seeds available to try in some of the best coffee shops in Amsterdam. The "Greenhouse" is one of those coffeeshops that at the beginning of 1995 sold Serious products to smoke.

The Greenhouse coffee shop won a High Times Cannabis Cup in 1995 with the Kali Mist cultivated by Serious Seeds. In 1996 another famous coffee shop in Amsterdam, the "De Dampkring" won the General Cup at Cannabis Cup of that year with the new strain Serious: White Russian.

Another Serious store of the debuts is the "Blue Bird", which first entered the Warlock in 1997 in the High Times Cananbis Cup winning a prize.

They really sell what is listed instead of anything with a name "often requested".

Serious has always been a relatively small company and prefers to stay like this.

We strive to develop new and interesting plants with good medicinal properties, which are stable and easy to grow, so that health professionals can provide high quality medicines to patients with medicinal cannabis.

This means that we do not work to produce something new every year for commercial reasons or to compete in the next competition.

We want to give a new name when we think we have something worth trying for medicinal users, grass growers and smokers.
